Obverse: a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The year of issue "2007" and the fineness of the coin are shown next to it. The Queen's portrait is surrounded by her name "ELIZABETH II", the coin's country of origin "CANADA" and the Latin phrase "D · G · REGINA" (grace of God to the King).
Reverse: purple violet is depicted.
About the coin: in 1998, the Royal Canadian Mint started one of its most spectacular gold coin series at all. The official series name was "National flowers of Canadian provinces and territories". For the first time ever in long coin history, a mint was able to strike a gold coin with fineness of 5x9 = 99.999%. By this breakthrough the "Floral Emblems" series turned into an iconic series. Due to the very low mintages of only 1,171 to maximum 2,001 coins, nowadays all gold coins of this series are wanted rarities and very difficult to find.
