Obverse: the coin depicts the goddess of ancient Roman agriculture Ceres, around the name of the state "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". In the top of the coin is minted six-sided star. On the bottom of the coin, on the left hand side is minted the hand of justice, on the right - laurel leaf twig. The bottom of the coin is also the initials of the coin engraver "L.MERLEY.F".
Reverse: the center features a coin denomination "20 FRANCS" decorated with a crown of laurel and oak leaves, the words "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" (eng. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity).
Edge: are minted words "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" (eng. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity).
