About the set: this is a set of 5 German €2 coins for Saxony, consisting of coins from all German mints. The designs of all five coins are identical, only the mint letters differ. This design is the penultimate German 2-euro commemorative coin for the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt and depicts Germany's oldest Gothic cathedral, Magdeburg Cathedral. Construction of this cathedral began in 1209 and lasted almost 300 years. The cathedral's towers reach a height of 100 metres. This cathedral is a masterpiece of Central European Gothic.
Obverse: The coin depicts St Catherine and St Peter in the centre. The centre of the coin shows the Cathedral of St. Catherine and St. Maurice Magdeburg, the oldest Gothic cathedral in Germany. The year of minting '2021' is engraved at the top of the coin, the name of the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt 'SACHSEN-ANHALT' below the cathedral and the letter 'D' for the name of the German State (Deutschland) below. On the left-hand side of the cathedral, depending on the mint, the letter A, D, F, G or J is engraved to represent the mint (A for Belrin, D for Munich, F for Stuttgart, G for Karslruh and J for Hamburg).
Reverse: the regular numeral of the 2-euro denomination.
