Obverse: the national coat of arms of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Around the country of origin of the coin and the year of issue "2006"
Reverse: the meditating Buddha is depicted. Around it is a coin denomination of 100,000 Kip, a weight of 1/2 oz, and fineness of 999.9 gold.
About the coin: the coin depicts a Buddha, a creature awakened or enlightened. In a narrow sense, the Buddha is called the pioneer of Buddhism, Buddha Shakyamuni (Prince Sidharta Gautama), who woke up and began to spread his experience as Buddhist teaching to other people. However, Buddha Shakyamuni is neither the first nor the last Buddha. According to Buddhism, one can become a Buddha after knowing the Dharma and experiencing enlightenment. It is believed that there have been many Buddhas in history. The Buddha (both historical and general) is neither a god nor a leader nor a prophet. He is just a teacher helping others to become Buddha.
