Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts King Ludwig II of Bavaria, with the inscription "LUDWIG II KUNNIG V. BAYERN" (En. Ludwig II Bavarian King). The bottom of the coin features the letter "D" which is the mint mark.
Reverse: the coat of arms of the German Empire - the Eagle with a crown, around the inscription "DEUTSCHES REICH" (eng. German Empire) and the year of the coin. At the bottom of the coin - is the coin's nominal "20 MARK".
About the coin: these 20 Mark Ludwig II gold coins are scarce, but they were also the official settlement tool in the German Empire. Ludwig II was the King of Bavaria, who ruled from 1864-to 1886. From 1875 he did not appear in public and began to build castles (Hernchimze, Neuschwanstein, Linderhof) where he lived alternately. Because of his infinite debts and progressive mental illness, Ludwig was declared incapable.
