Obverse: A stylized sturgeon is depicted at the bottom of the obverse of the coin. The name of the bank "ґЗАКСТАН УЛТТЫК БАНКІ" (lit. NATIONAL BANK OF KAZAKHSTAN) is engraved at the top, the nominal value, purity and weight of the coin "500 ТЕҢГЕ Ag 925 24g" at the bottom.
Reverse: Two sturgeons are depicted on the reverse of the coin, one of them in gold. The name of the sturgeon in various languages (Kazakh, Latin) "ACIPENSERIDAE БЕКІРЕ" and the year "2011" are engraved around it.
