About the coin: this silver dollar was issued in 1984 to commemorate the XXIII Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Both design and engraving were done by Robert Graham. Coins were struck at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco. Proof versions were struck only at San Francisco, while uncirculated versions came from all three mints. The San Francisco proof and Philadelphia uncirculated were sold individually, while Denver and San Francisco uncirculated coins were only available in three-coin sets. Composition – 90% silver and 10% copper, actual silver weight 24.05 g, total weight 26.73 g, diameter 38.1 mm, thickness 2.9 mm, reeded edge.
