Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts Napoleon I and is crowned. The words "1804-COURONNEMENT DE NAPOLÉON" (the coronation of Napoleon in 1804) are engraved on the upper right-hand side of the coin. The letters "RF" engraved at the bottom are the mintmark.
Reverse: the reverse depicts the Napoleonic (Civil) Code. On the left is an eagle perched on a branch and the denomination "10 EURO". The inscription "LIBERTÉ - ÉGALITÉ - FRATERNITÉ" (Freedom, Equality, Fraternity) is on the left.
About the coin: the gold coin issued in 2004 commemorates the 200th anniversary of the coronation of Napoleon I.
