Obverse: WFK Christie, President of the Storting, on the left of the obverse, and Tordenskiold, Norwegian nobleman, flag officer and admiral, on the right. The denomination is 1000 (kroner) at the top and bottom. In the middle are the initials of the Bank of Norway, the year and the serial number.
Reverse: in the centre of the reverse is Nidaros Cathedral (Trondheim), the shrine of Norway's patron saint, St Olav, who was venerated throughout Scandinavia. Surrounded by: on the left, the head of the Viking king; on the right, the coat of arms of Norway, surrounded by the coats of arms of the 6 Norwegian dioceses.
About the silver plate: this is the Norwegian equivalent of the now out-of-print 1000 kroner banknote, struck on a silver plate.
