The portrait is surrounded by the inscription 'GUSTAF V SVERIGES KONUNG' (Gustaf V, King of Sweden).
Reverse: The reverse shows the Swedish crown and coat of arms in the centre of the reverse, surrounded by a Seraphim Order chain. Around the centre of the Seraphim's medal is the royal motto 'MED FOLKET FÖR FOSTERLANDET' (English: 'With the People for the Fatherland'), and the denomination '1 Kr.' (1 krone).
