Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts the sunflower, considered to be the symbol of Ukraine. The upper part of the coin bears the image of the sunburst, which is the symbol of the sunflower, and the name of the issuing country and the year 'LATVIJA 2023'.
Reverse: the normal reverse of the €2 coin.
About the coin: The Bank of Latvia has issued a 2-euro coin dedicated to Ukraine. The sunflower depicted on the coin is not only economically important for Ukraine (Ukraine is the world's largest producer of sunflowers and exporter of sunflower oil), but also became a symbol of peace after the outbreak of the war caused by Russia.
