About the coin: The African elephant first appeared on a coin in 1999 in Zambia’s coinage. Since 2004, these coins have been officially minted by the Republic of Somalia, with a new reverse design introduced each year. Collectors and investors appreciate the annually changing designs of these silver coins – each featuring an elephant, the largest land mammal on the planet.
