Obverse: in the center of the coin – the numeral 5, decorated with a blooming flax stem, with the inscription PENKI CENTAI (five cents) on both sides.

About the coin: paper money printed on low-quality paper, especially smaller denominations, wore out quickly in circulation, which soon created a need for coins to replace the notes. In 1923, the Lithuanian Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry announced a design competition for coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 centų and 1, 3, 5, 25, 50 litai, which were to reflect the spirit of national art. The winner was sculptor Juozas Zikaras, who designed this 5 centų coin, minted in the United Kingdom.
