Obverse: the coin design shows an atmospheric steam engine for draining water from mines. The first machine of this type in continental Europe was built in the mining town of Nova Baňa in 1722. It was designed and built by the English engineer Isaac Potter, whose signature is engraved on the side, in two lines, on the lower left. The name of the country that produced the engine is inscribed on the right-hand side, 'SLOVAKIA', and the years '1722' and '2022' are engraved on the right.
Reverse: the usual reverse of the €2 coin.
