On the left-hand side, the national emblem 'D' of the issuing country, the Federal Republic of Germany, the year of minting 2023, a different mintmark, the words 'HAMBURG' and the initials of the artist at the bottom.

About the coin: The German Government has decided to mint and issue a €2 commemorative coin dedicated to the city of Hamburg in January 2023. The coin marks the start of the series "Bundesländer II", in which each year one European country is to be honoured with a commemorative €2 coin.
