Obverse: The coin depicts the Genius throwing a discus, with the athletics stadium of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the background. The Arc de Triomphe is also featured, symbolising Paris and the host country, France.
Reverse: The reverse features the common design of all 2-euro coins: a geographical map of Western Europe on the right side, covering both the inner and outer parts of the coin. The inscription 2 EURO is placed above the map, while the number 2 is set against the background of the Atlantic Ocean. The outer ring bears 12 stars arranged on both sides of the map, with vertical lines visually connecting the upper and lower stars.
About the coin: Issued in 2022, this coin is dedicated to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. It represents the second part of a four-year series that began in 2021 with the image of Marianne. A total of 250,000 Brilliant Uncirculated coins were issued, of which 50,000 were presented in five-colour coincards. The coins were not released into circulation and are available only in special BU card sets.
