Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts a human figure named "Faller" dressed in a traditional cloak and drawing a circle of fire using the "Falla" (a sacred element made from the bark of a tree which, when ignited, spins violently to create large circles of fire). The graphic composition of lines in the background represents the summer solstice. In the center of the obverse the country "ANDORRA" and the year "2023" are indicated. The outer ring of the coin features the 12 stars of the European flag.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin depicts the denomination and a map of Europe.
About the coin: The Summer Solstice Fire Festival was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2015. The festival in the Pyrenees takes place every year on the same night, when the sun is at its zenith. When night falls, people from different towns and villages carry burning torches down the mountains to illuminate the various traditionally built lighthouses. This is a special moment for young people, marking the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
