Set of Japanese BU yen with a pure copper medal with certificate of authenticity, direct from the Japanese National Mint. The set consists of a 500 yen (new design), a 100 yen, a 10 yen bronze coin and a 1 yen aluminium coin. The other two coins, the 50 yen and the 5 yen brass coins, are uniquely shaped with a round hole in the centre.
This year is the Year of the Tiger in the Oriental calendar and the special medal features a tiger resting comfortably on the ground. Â The reverse of the medal is engraved with the year of minting of the medal and the set, '2022', as well as Japanese symbols.
About the set: each set contains a special commemorative Eastern Zodiac medal in red brass, for one year only. This Mint set contains all the circulation coins issued in Japan in 2022: 500 yen, 10 BU condition. Each set is also presented in an official Mint box. Limited quantities - although 150 000 of these sets were authorised, only 984 were issued outside Japan.
