Obverse: the obverse of the coin features the portrait of the king. Around the coin is the inscription CARL XVI GUSTAF SVERIGES KONUNG (Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden), and below – FÖR SVERIGE I TIDEN (For Sweden – with time).
Reverse: the reverse is inscribed with the text of the first article of the new Succession Act. At the top is the year of issue 1980, and at the bottom is the denomination 200 KR. On both sides of the denomination, the letters E and U are engraved. E (on the left) indicates where the coin was minted (Eskilstuna), and U (on the right) is the first letter of the name of the governor of Riksbank.
About the coin: this silver coin is dedicated to the new Swedish Royal Succession Act, which came into effect in 1980 and established that the right of succession to the throne belongs first and foremost to the firstborn, regardless of gender.
