Reverse: A stylised figure of the hero from the Estonian national epic “Kalevipoeg” is incorporated into a composition of geometric lines. The denomination “100 KROONI” appears at the bottom.
About the coin: In 1998, the Bank of Estonia issued this commemorative silver coin to mark the 80th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Estonia. Estonia declared its independence on 24 February 1918. The coin's design incorporates a motif from the Estonian national epic “Kalevipoeg”, symbolising Estonian national identity, strength and the pursuit of independence. To commemorate this important anniversary, Estonia issued a special series consisting of 10 and 100 krooni silver coins and a 500 krooni gold coin.
