Obverse: The centre of the coin features the greater coat of arms of the Republic of Estonia – a shield bearing three lions and surrounded by stylised oak branches. The inscription “EESTI VABARIIK” appears around the composition, with the year of issue “2004” below.
Reverse: The centre features a stylised representation of the Estonian national flag in blue, black and white. The inscription “EESTI LIPP” (“Estonian Flag”) and the denomination “10 KROONI” appear around the design.
About the coin: In 2004, the Bank of Estonia issued this commemorative silver coin to mark the 120th anniversary of the Estonian national flag. The blue, black and white flag was first consecrated on 4 June 1884 in Otepää and over time became one of the most important symbols of Estonian national identity and independence. The coin is distinguished by its coloured Estonian flag motif. It was designed by Estonian artist Tiit Jürna and struck by the Finnish Mint, Rahapaja Oy.
