At the bottom are two laurel branches with a ribbon inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST. Inscriptions also include LIBERTY, 1991, GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY, MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL.
Reverse: the Great Seal of the United States with a sunburst and an outline of the country. A star marks the location of Mount Rushmore with the inscription SHRINE OF DEMOCRACY. Surrounding inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR.
About the coin: this silver dollar was issued in 1991 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The obverse was designed by Marika Somogyi. Composition – 90% silver and 10% copper, actual silver weight 24.05 g, total weight 26.73 g, diameter 38.1 mm, reeded edge. Coins were minted at San Francisco (S, proof) and Denver (D, uncirculated).
