Obverse: The obverse of the coin features a left-facing portrait of King Charles III, designed by Dan Thorne. Along the upper rim are the inscriptions “CHARLES III” and “AUSTRALIA”, indicating the monarch’s name and the issuing country. The lower part displays the fine gold weight and fineness “1/4 oz 9999 Au” as well as the face value “25 DOLLARS”. The designer’s initials “DT” appear beneath the portrait.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin depicts a goat standing in a rocky mountain landscape, with long, curved horns. The composition is complemented by rocks, mountain slopes and a tree growing on the right-hand side. The upper part features the Chinese character “羊”, representing the goat, and the inscription “GOAT 2027”. On the left is the “P” mintmark of Australia’s The Perth Mint, while the initials “WR” of designer Wade Robinson appear on a rock.
About the coin: This 2027 gold bullion coin belongs to The Perth Mint’s “Australian Lunar Series III”, dedicated to the animals of the Chinese lunar zodiac. The coin celebrates the Year of the Goat. In Chinese zodiac tradition, the goat is associated with gentleness, creativity, compassion and inner strength. Years of the Goat include 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979 and every twelfth preceding year.
The coin is struck from 999.9 fine gold and contains 1/4 troy ounce (approximately 7.7759 g) of pure gold. Its face value is 25 Australian dollars and its maximum diameter is 20.60 mm. The coin is supplied in a protective acrylic capsule and can complement both an investment gold portfolio and a collection of Lunar Series coins.
