Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts the portrait of the Greek mathematician Constantin Carathéodory. Along the inner edge to the left is his name and year of birth "ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΊΝΟΣ ΚΑΡΑΘΕΟΔΩPH 1873-1950" and to the right is the year of mintage "2023" and the Greek Mint mark. The name of the state "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" is carved under the portrait. In the center of the obverse you can also see the formula "L(A+B)=µA<½ ∫(h-U)α√T dt=min". The outer ring of the coin depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin shows the denomination of 2 euros and depicts a map of Europe.
About the coin: The 2 euro commemorative coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Constantin Carathéodory. Constantin Carathéodory (1873-1950) was a Greek mathematician who spent most of his professional career in Germany. He was one of the most important mathematicians of the 20th century.
