The words "1821-2021" and "200 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΕΠΑΝΑΣΤΑΣΗ" ("1821-2021" and "200th ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREEK REVOLUTION") are engraved around the coin. At the bottom of the coin is the name of the country "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" and on the left is a palm branch, which is the mark of the Greek Mint) and the year of issue "2021" and the embossed monogram of the artist Georg Stamatopoulos.
Reverse: normal € 2 denomination. Edge: The words "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" (Hellenic Republic) are engraved.
About the coin: this € 2 commemorative coin is dedicated to the memory of the Greek War against the Ottoman Empire, which took place between 1821 and 1832 before Greece was finally recognized as an independent state after a long conflict.
