Obverse: the obverse depicts priest and poet Maironis. At the top, the inscription LIETUVOS BANKAS appears, and at the bottom – the denomination DVIDEŠIMT LITŲ. In the center above the denomination is the printing year 1997, and below – the signature of the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania.
Reverse: features the Vytautas the Great War Museum ensemble in Kaunas. Maironis is buried near this museum. The second reverse element is the sculpture Liberty by J. Zikaras, a representation of a winged woman breaking the chains of oppression. The denomination DVIDEŠIMT LITŲ is written at the bottom, and the Coat of Arms of Lithuania appears in the upper right corner.
