Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts a Koala sitting on a branch of a eucalyptus tree. The words 'AUSTRALIAN KOALA' are engraved on the top of the coin, the year of minting, the weight of the coin and the purity of the silver are engraved on the bottom of the coin '2013 1 KILO 999 SILVER'. On the reverse we can also see the engraved letter "P" which is the mintmark of The Perth Mint in Australia.
Obverse: the obverse of the coin features an image of Queen Elizabeth II (Australia is a constitutional monarchy under which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is also Queen of Australia). The name of the monarch 'ELIZABETH II' and the name of the State 'AUSTRALIA' are engraved around the coin, with the denomination '30 DOLLARS' at the bottom.
About the coin: the Perth Mint has been producing silver Koala Series coins since 2007. Each year a new design is released with a slightly different koala design. The coins come in four different sizes: 1 kg, 10 oz, 1 oz and 1/2 oz.
