Reverse: The reverse shows a kookaburra – the famous Australian bird – in an artistic composition replicating one of the reverse designs from 1990–2008. Each coin also bears the year 2009, the silver purity mark 1 OZ 999 SILVER, and the P20 mintmark, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Kookaburra series.
About the coin: This coin is a special 2009 release marking the 20th anniversary of the Australian Silver Kookaburra series. The series has been issued by the Perth Mint since 1990, with a new reverse design introduced each year. In 2009, a total of 20 different P20 coins were issued. Nineteen of them are restrikes – reissues of earlier 1990–2008 designs with the 2009 date and P20 mintmark. One original 2009 design was also issued, likewise marked with the P20 mintmark.
All coins are struck from .999 fine silver, weigh 1 troy ounce (about 31.1 grams), carry a denomination of 1 Australian dollar (1 AUD), and are legal tender in Australia.
