Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts the last Russian emperor, Tsar Nicholas II, who ruled the Russian tsarist empire from 1894 until 1917, the inscription "Б.М. НИКОЛАЙ II ИМПЕРАТОРЪ И САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ ВСЕРОСС" was erected around the image of the emperor.
Reverse: The small coat of arms of the Russian Empire is depicted on the reverse a crowned double-headed eagle holding monarch symbols in its claws, the chest of an eagle depicts St. George, and in the wings the coats of arms of the imperial lands, the denomination engraved at the bottom of the reverse and the year of the coin minting "КОПѢЕКЪ" (eng. kopecks).
