Obverse: The centre of the coin features a right-facing portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II, designed by British sculptor Arnold Machin. The surrounding inscription reads “ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA”, meaning “Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen”. The year of issue, 1976, appears below the portrait.
Reverse: Features four different portraits of Queen Victoria inspired by historical coinage from her reign. Arranged around a central crown, the portraits represent different stages of the monarch's long rule. The design also includes the royal monograms “VR”, the inscription “TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS” and the denomination “20 CROWNS”.
About the coin: The 1976 Turks and Caicos Islands 20 Crowns silver collector coin commemorates Queen Victoria (1819–1901), who ruled the United Kingdom from 1837 to 1901. Her reign, known as the Victorian era, was marked by industrial expansion, scientific discoveries and major social changes. Over more than six decades, the Queen's image on coinage evolved considerably, and the four portraits on the reverse celebrate this fascinating chapter of numismatic history.
Issued to mark the 75th anniversary of Queen Victoria's death, the coin is struck from .925 sterling silver, weighs 38.7 g and measures 45 mm in diameter.
