Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts a platypus floating in water, together with a small platypus. To the right and left are the embossed letter "P" on the Perth Mint.
Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts Queen Elizabeth II (Australia has a constitutional monarchy under which Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is also the Queen of Australia). The words "ELIZABETH II" and the name of the country "AUSTRALIA" are engraved around the image of the Queen, and the weight, fineness, year and denomination "2 OZ 9999 AG 2021 2 DOLLARS" are engraved at the bottom. Below the image of the queen are engraved designer initials JC (Jody Clark).
