The lower part of the coin displays the pure gold weight and fineness “1 oz 9999 Au”, as well as the monetary denomination “100 DOLLARS”. The designer’s initials “DT” are visible below the portrait.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin depicts a goat with long, curved horns standing in a rocky mountain landscape. The composition is complemented by rocks, mountain slopes and a tree growing on the right-hand side. The upper part features the Chinese character for goat, “羊”, together with the inscription “GOAT 2027”. The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark appears on the left, while the initials “WR” of designer Wade Robinson are shown on a rock.
About the coin: This 2027 gold bullion coin is part of The Perth Mint’s “Australian Lunar Series III”, dedicated to the animals of the Chinese lunar zodiac. The coin celebrates the Year of the Goat. In Chinese zodiac tradition, the goat is associated with gentleness, creativity, compassion and inner strength. Years of the Goat include 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979 and every twelfth preceding year.
The coin is struck from 999.9 fine gold and contains 1 troy ounce (31.1035 g) of pure gold. Its monetary denomination is 100 Australian dollars and its maximum diameter is 32.60 mm. The maximum mintage of this 1 oz gold coin is limited to 30,000 pieces.
The reverse incorporates a security feature in the form of a micro-engraved letter that can only be detected under a magnifying glass. The coin is presented in a protective acrylic capsule and is suitable for both investment gold portfolios and collections of “Lunar” series coins.
