Reverse: in the centre of the reverse is Nidaros Cathedral (Trondheim), the shrine of Norway's patron saint, St Olav, who was venerated throughout Scandinavia. Surrounded by: on the left, the head of the Viking king; on the right, the coat of arms of Norway, surrounded by the coats of arms of the 6 Norwegian dioceses.
About the silver plate: this is the Norwegian equivalent of the now out-of-print 1000 kroner banknote, struck on a silver plate.
