Obverse: the central part of the coin, depicted in 2001. Obverse and reverse of the 1 peseta coin. This coin was the last coin issued before the introduction of the euro in Spain. The king's name "JUAN CARLOS I" is engraved at the top of the obverse and the Spanish title "REY DE ESPANA" at the bottom.
Reverse: the reverse of the coin depicts a sphere of the earth with a map of Europe. The sphere is surrounded by twelve stars symbolizing the flag of the European Union. The denomination of the coin "400 EURO" is engraved on the top of the reverse and the name of the coin "V ANIVERSARIO DEL EURO" is commemorated at the bottom.
