Reverse: This year's coin depicts two kangaroos. At the top of the coin, the words “KANGAROO” are inscribed, on the left side – the year of issue “2025”, the weight of pure gold “1/2 oz”, the fineness “9999” and the precious metal name “GOLD”. Next to the kangaroo, on the right side, the letter “P” is engraved, representing the mint mark of “Perth Mint”.
Obverse: The obverse of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III (Australia is a constitutional monarchy, where His Majesty is also the King of Australia). The words “CHARLES III” and the name of the country “AUSTRALIA” are inscribed on the obverse, with the nominal value “100 DOLLARS” engraved at the bottom of the coin.
About the coin: Each year, this coin is issued with a different kangaroo design. This Australian Gold Kangaroo coin contains 99.99% pure gold, hence it has long been known as the “gold nugget”. The coin is minted entirely from pure gold, with no other metal impurities. This pure gold coin is legal tender in Australia. Pure gold coins have been minted in Australia since 1987, but from 1989, their design was changed, and these “gold nuggets” with a kangaroo image began to be minted.
