About the coin: this is the first commemorative and the last interwar Lithuanian coin, issued to mark the twentieth anniversary of Lithuania's independence. The coin gained extraordinary popularity, which led to an additional mintage of 180,000 pieces. Although the total mintage was considerable, many coins were destroyed by the Soviet occupiers. Therefore, today this coin is quite rare and highly valued by collectors. The coin was designed by Juozas Zikaras.
