The outer ring contains 12 stars arranged on either side of the map, with vertical lines visually connecting the upper and lower stars.
About the coin: The coin was issued in 2025 and is dedicated to the historical theme of the Marquisat des Baux. The Treaty of Péronne of 1641 marked Monaco’s shift from Spanish protection to an alliance with France. In 1642, King Louis XIII granted a fief to Hercule Grimaldi, son of Prince Honoré II – the Marquisat des Baux. This title is traditionally inherited by the heirs to the Monegasque throne and is currently held by Prince Jacques.
