About the coin: this two-euro BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) quality coin is from the sixth issue of the series on "Prehistoric sites". This coin is dedicated to Tarxien temples that were built from 3600 to 2500 B.C. This complex of megalith buildings was listed in the Maltese National Inventory of Cultural Property. Since 1992 this site was also enlisted into the UNESCO world heritage list. This complex consists of four temples that are in great condition to this day. The most outstanding detail of this site is the huge 2,50 m tall statues that symbolize the fertility goddess.
