Obverse: the outer ring of the coin shows the symbol of the European Union - 12 stars. In the middle element of the coin, there is an effigy of Carolus V. Besides a portrait is minted and surrounded by Latin inscriptions that mean the titles of the Emperor. Beneath depicts the coin's country of origin and year of production "BE" (abbreviation for Belgium and "2021". Also, there is the name of the Emperor (Carolus V) which is engraved on the bar that stretches across the effigy. In the corner, you can find Belgium's Herzele municipality coat of arms and Royal Dutch Mint mark.
Reverse: Regular 2 Euro design.
Edge of the coin: depict two starts that appear six times across the brim which symbolizes the Flag of the European Union.
About the coin: the silver and gold versions of these coins were spread around the Netherlands in the 16th century. Carolus V (1500-1558) was an emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and Austrian Archduke from 1519 to 1556. His initiative led to the expansion of Christianity in America and the diminishing of Protestantism. Also, his lead has managed to stop the attacks of the Ottoman Empire on Europe. He was one of the great leaders that brought the new era of renaissance to Europe.
