Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts the Virgin Mary intent on contemplating Jesus stretching out his arms towards her, a detail taken from the famous altarpiece of the "Madonna with the Child and two angels", painted in 1465 year by the Renaissance artist Filippo Lippi. The top half of the coin features the name of the country "SAN MARINO" and the name of the author "FILIPPO LIPPI", on the left side - the year of the painter's death "1469"and the mintmark of the Italian mint "R". In the bottom are minted year of the coin "2019". Twelve stars of the European Union on the outside of the coin.
Reverse: regular 2€ denomination number.
Edge: A number "2" is embossed on the edge of the coin and a star that is repeated six times, the second element being inverted.
