The coin features the semicircular "FIRST FLIGHT FROM MALTA" at the top, the "1915-2015" on the side of the coin and the "100TH ANNIVERSARY" at the middle of the coin. At the bottom of the coin, the letters "NGB" denote the coin's designer's initials (Noel Galea Bason). The outer ring of the coin depicts the twelve stars of the European Union.
About the coin: The coin marks an important event in the history of Maltese aviation: from the first flight from Malta, which took place on 13 February 1915 a hundred years have passed. 1915 Captain Kilmer took a seaplane from Grand Harbor, which was carried by HMS Ark Royal. After 55 minutes, the plane landed in port.
