Obverse: The set consists of eight Slovak euro coins ranging from 1 cent to 2 euros. The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict Kriváň Peak in the High Tatras, one of the best-known symbols of Slovak nature and national identity. The 10, 20 and 50 cent coins feature Bratislava Castle, while the €1 and €2 coins depict the Slovak coat of arms motif with a double cross standing on three hills. The coins also bear the inscription SLOVENSKO, while the coins included in the set are dated 2009 and 2010.
Reverse: The reverse of the coins features the common European design corresponding to each euro denomination. The 1, 2 and 5 cent coins depict Europe in relation to the world, while the 10, 20 and 50 cent and €1 and €2 coins depict Europe as a single geographical continent. The designs also incorporate the 12 stars symbolising the European Union.
About the coins: This Slovak euro coin set is a special Prestige collector edition. Slovakia officially adopted the euro on 1 January 2009, when it replaced the Slovak koruna at the fixed conversion rate of €1 = 30.1260 Slovak korunas. Important national symbols were selected for the coin designs – Kriváň Peak, Bratislava Castle and the double cross, one of the oldest symbols of Slovak statehood. The set is presented in special black Prestige packaging, which states a limited edition of 50,000 sets.
