Reverse: the coat of arms of the Russian Empire - a crowned double-headed eagle in its nail with monarchic symbols, is depicted on the eagle's chest of St. George, and in the wings of the coat of arms, the denomination of the reverse and the year of the coin is minted in the bottom "7 РУБЛЕЙ 50 КОПѢЕКЪ 1897 Г." (eng. 7 rubles 50 kopecks 1897 y.).
Edge: the inscription "ЧИСТАГО ЗОЛОТА 1 ЗОЛОТНИКЪ 34,68 ДОЛЕЙ (А • Г)" (eng. pure gold 1 zolotnik 34.68 parts AG). The letters А • Г represent the initials of the mint master Apollon Grasgof.
