Obverse: The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Mexico. The coat of arms depicts an eagle perched on a cactus and tearing apart a snake. Below the cactus is a pedestal and a spring of flowing water. The coat of arms is crowned with a wreath of laurel and oak leaves. At the top, the inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS (United Mexican States) is engraved.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin shows three footballs of different sizes. On the left side, the denomination $50 is indicated, below it is the inscription COPA MUNDIAL DE FUTBOL (FIFA World Cup), followed by the country and year México 86, 1986.
