The name of the region "SAARLAND", the year of issuance, and the abbreviation of Germany "D" are inscribed at the bottom. On the right, the mint mark and the initials of the coin’s designer are indicated. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the EU.
Reverse: The usual reverse of a 2 euro coin.
Edge: The inscription "EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT" (Unity and justice and freedom) and an image of the German eagle.
