Obverse: The centre of the coin features the coat of arms of the Principality of Andorra, surrounded by an ornate Baroque-style shield. The coat of arms contains four historical symbols: the mitre and crosier of the Bishop of Urgell, the pales of the County of Foix, the four red stripes of Catalonia, and the two cows of Béarn. At the bottom of the shield appears Andorra's motto VIRTUS UNITA FORTIOR, meaning United virtue is stronger. To the right are the country name ANDORRA and the year of issue 2021.
Reverse: The reverse features the standard design common to all €2 coins: a geographical map of Western Europe positioned on the right side of the coin and extending across both the inner and outer parts. The inscription 2 EURO appears above the map, while the numeral 2 is placed against the background of the Atlantic Ocean. The outer ring contains 12 stars positioned on either side of the map, with vertical lines visually connecting the upper and lower stars.
About the coin: This Andorran €2 circulation coin features the country's official coat of arms, one of its most important national symbols. The coat of arms reflects Andorra's unique history and its co-principality system, which dates back to the 13th century. The four quarters of the shield represent the historical territories and rulers that shaped the development of Andorra. The motto VIRTUS UNITA FORTIOR emphasises the importance of unity, expressing the idea that a united nation is stronger. This design has been used on Andorra's €1 and €2 circulation coins since the country began issuing its own euro coinage.
