About the coin: the coin was issued in 2003 to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Justus von Liebig (1803–1873) – one of the most renowned chemists of the 19th century. He is considered a pioneer of modern agricultural chemistry, contributed to the development of mineral fertilizers and the science of nutrition.
