Obverse: the coin depicts the profile of King Charles X turned to the right, surrounded by the Latin legend "CHARLES X ROI DE FRANCE." (Charles X, King of France). Below the bust are the initials of the coin maker Auguste-François Michaut "MICHAUT".
Reverse: a crowned coat of arms embossed in the center of the coin, the denomination of the coin (20) on the left and the letter (F) of the first currency on the right. All this is surrounded by olive branches. The date is engraved at the bottom, next to which is a privacy mark and the mintmark.
Edge: the inscription "DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE" (God, protect France) is engraved on the edge.
