Obverse: On the obverse, against a damask background, is the coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania on a shield, with a duke's crown to the right and a duke's scepter depicted below it. The inscription "LIETUVA" is written in a semicircle at the top, and at the bottom are "50 LITŲ" and the year "1996."
Reverse: The reverse features an image of King Mindaugas of Lithuania based on a medal created by sculptor Vytautas Kašuba. The inscription "MINDAUGAS LIETUVOS KARALIUS" surrounds the image. At the bottom are the years "1251–1263."
