About the coin: The Kenulfo penny is considered one of the most significant Anglo-Saxon coins ever discovered. It was minted during the reign of King Coenwulf of Mercia, between 805 and 810 AD. This gold penny holds immense historical value as it represents the currency system of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia in the early 9th century. The coin remained undisturbed for around 1200 years until it was discovered by a metal detector enthusiast near the River Ivel in Bedfordshire, England, in 2001.
